New CCNP Track

Cisco Launches new CCNP Track

Cisco has announced its revision to the Cisco CCNP® certification for network engineers. The new curriculum will consist of three new 5-day courses: ROUTE, SWITCH and TSHOOT. The ROUTE and TSHOOT courses also include self-paced e-learning modules covering topics tested on the certification exams. Dates for these courses will be published over the next few weeks.

CCNP Certification Exams

The revised CCNP certification requires three 120-minute exams—ROUTE #642-902, SWITCH #642-813, and TSHOOT #642-832—that validate the key competencies of network engineers. Release of the new ROUTE and SWITCH exams is expected in mid-March and the final TSHOOT exam is now expected at the end of April 2010.

Candidates currently in the process of obtaining CCNP have several different options for mixing and matching certification exams.

New CCNP Track

The new CCNP Track comprises:

642-902 ROUTE Implementing Cisco IP Routing – a 5 day ILT plus e-learning

642-813 SWITCH Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks

642-832 TSHOOT Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks – a 5 day ILT plus e-learning

CCNP professional-level certifications are valid for 3 years.

Certification Mix and Match Part 1

Passing scores on BSCI, BCMSN and COMP will be accepted as long as they are valid.

New CCNP Certification Options

CCNP = BSCI + BCMSN + TSHOOT

CCNP = COMP + TSHOOT

CCNP = BSCI + SWITCH + TSHOOT

CCNP = ROUTE + BCMSN + TSHOOT

CCNP = ROUTE + SWITCH + TSHOOT

Certification Mix and Match Part 2

Passing scores on ISCW and ONT will expire on July 31, 2010.

New CCNP Certification Options – expiring on July 31, 2010.

CCNP = BSCI + BCMSN + ISCW + ONT

CCNP = COMP + ISCW + ONT

CCNP = BSCI + SWITCH + ISCW + ONT

CCNP = ROUTE + BCMSN + ISCW + ONT

CCNP = ROUTE + SWITCH + ISCW + ONT

Certification Mix and Match Part 3

ROUTE and SWITCH will replace existing exams in other certs where BSCI, BCMSN and COMP scores also remain valid.

CCDP = COMP + ARCH

CCDP = BSCI + SWITCH + ARCH

CCDP = ROUTE + BCMSN + ARCH

CCIP = COMP + QOS + MPLS + BGP
